Steel bars and plates of the vessel Helene were manufactured by The Steel Co of Scotland, and were tested by the Veritas Surveyor in Glasgow; the steel furnaces were manufactured by the Leeds Forge Co and tested by the Veritas surveyor there; states that the boiler was constructed to Bureau Veritas requirements and tested on completion to a water pressure of 320 lbs
